Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Central Christian. Just read through our Ministry Volunteer opportunities and pick out an area you feel comfortable in serving. Then just complete the form below and someone from that ministry area will be in contact with you.
Kidzworks (Background Check Required)
If you sign up to help serve in Kidzworks, we will try to get you serving right away, shadowing another volunteer. Here are the areas available to serve in Kidzworks.
Early Childhood (birth through age 2): Those who serve here minister to our youngest children with loving, hands-on care. Volunteers serve for one weekend service on a weekly or every other week basis.
Preschool and Kindergarten (ages 3 through Kindergarten): This ministry is an exciting place for children to experience the love and joy of God! Volunteers guide small groups of 8 to 10 children through activities ( crafts, games, and snacks) and participate with the children in a worship and teaching time. Volunteers serve for one weekend service on a weekly or every other week basis.
Elementary (Grades 1-5): Our elementary ministry is all about the Big God Story. Volunteers in this ministry guide small groups of 8-12 kids through activities (discussion, crafts, prayer) and participate with the kids in a worship, teaching and respond time. Volunteers serve for one weekend service on a weekly or every other week basis.
Check-in: Our check-in workers are the "first contact" people for the families who attend our ministry. They welcome families and use our check-in kiosks to check children into our ministry, including printing name tags and parent claim/security tags. Check-in begins 15 minutes before the service, and closes 15 minutes after the start of the service. Volunteers serve during this half hour time on a weekly or every other week basis.
Security: Our Security team is extremely important in helping keep our children safe, making sure that the only people entering the building are scheduled volunteers and parents dropping off and picking up their children. These volunteers serve for one weekend service on a weekly or every other week basis.
CSM – Central Student Ministries (Background Check Required)
Come serve our students by shadowing one of our CSM volunteers. Getting connected with our Junior High and High School students can be life changing both for them and for you. This is a great opportunity to see what goes on Wednesday nights with our students without all the pressure of being “in charge.” We will hook you up with another volunteer and they’ll show you the ropes.
This ministry includes the following positions and areas for people to get involved and to serve: Security, Communion and Offering servers, greeters, brochure distributors, ushers, guest hosts, and information center volunteers. The goal of this team is to serve guests with excellence while they are here. Team members serve on an every other month basis in all of our weekly worship services.
Anointing Team: These volunteers are scheduled for our prayer and anointing time during each of our weekend services. You will first be asked to serve and be trained by those who are currently on the Anointing Team before you are placed on the schedule.
Prayer Event Planning: Throughout the calendar year, our Prayer Ministry provides prayer events for the church family that focus and petition our heavenly Father’s favor upon the body of Christ here at Central Christian Church. These volunteers spend time in prayer, planning and serving during these major prayer events.
Hospital and Homebound Visitation: These volunteers visit the members and guests of Central Christian Church who are in the hospital, local extended care facilities, and who are currently homebound and unable to attend our weekend services.
Presence Keepers Team: These volunteers meet 15 minutes before each of our services to pray for the Holy Spirit’s anointing upon our worship experience.
Communion and Offering Servers
This is the perfect time to start serving communion, as we are about to establish schedules for each service. Volunteers will be scheduled on an every other month basis for a particular service. Our goal is to have two teams rotating every other month for the 6 p.m. Sat., 9 a.m. Sun., and 10:30 a.m. Sunday services. Responsibilities are to pass the communion trays and offering buckets at the scheduled time in the service each weekend.
During the week, we often have administrative tasks that can be done by volunteers. You may help stuff mailings, make phone calls, work with our database, or any number of other tasks that might involve organizational or computer skills. This is mostly “as needed,” so we don’t have a regular time where we meet together. If you are interested, we will put you on a contact list for when something like this comes up.
Custodial / Maintenance
We could use volunteers to help vacuum, clean bathrooms, sweep floors, and all the other things needed in keeping our building beautiful. In addition, if you're a handyman, help us with upkeep and repair projects around the church. If you are interested, we will contact you about scheduling a time for you to come in to serve during the week.
Worship Team (Audition Required)
If you feel God’s call to lead others in worship, and he has gifted you with the talent to sing or play an instrument, sign up to audition for the Worship Team. Team members usually serve once a month for the entire weekend, including Saturday afternoon rehearsal. They are also expected to come prepared to rehearsal, having rehearsed their parts on their own. If you are interested, we will schedule an audition time.
Each Wednesday morning Central Christian Church provides a food pantry for well over 100 families in need within the State-line area. We also provide prayer and resource counseling. Our food pantry doors are open from 9:00 till 10:30 a.m. Most of our volunteers are older adults and this provides them with a great opportunity to roll up their sleeves and serve those who are less fortunate.
Good Samaritan Ministry
The Good Samaritan Ministry invites our members, and others in the community to provide volunteer service to others in a variety of ways. We collect requests from those with a need, and organize talented (or just caring) volunteers to help them. Like to learn more? Please click Good Samaritan.
Our Homebound Ministry serves the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of those individuals who are homebound.
Hospital Visitation Ministry
Our Hospital Visitation Ministry is an opportunity for volunteers to provide prayer and encouragement to our members and guests of Central Christian Church.
Funeral Luncheon Ministry
The Funeral Luncheon Ministry consists of two areas, preparing food to be used at the luncheons and setting up and serving the luncheons. Those who prepare food are called on by the church in a rotating order to make and deliver to the church one of several dishes to be served to the family and friends of the deceased. You may be asked to make a potato salad, Jello salad, baked beans or a dessert. If you would like to minister by preparing food, please call LouAnn Harrington at 608.466.0126.
The other part of the Funeral Luncheon ministry is working the luncheon after the funeral. This entails setting the luncheon tables, preparing sandwiches, making coffee, helping serve the food and cleaning up the kitchen after the luncheon. As with the food, those working the luncheons are called on a rotating basis. This is a wonderful way to minister to those in our church and community that are grieving. If you would be interested in this part of the Funeral Luncheon ministry call LouAnn Harrington at 608.466.0126.
Sew Angels Ministry
The Sew Angels ministry is involved in sewing projects for the needy. We sew clothing for local children, make newborn welcome home packages for single moms, providing toiletry bags for orphans and prison inmates in Haiti and making bedding for the new hospital our church is building in Haiti. These are only some of the projects we have been involved with through the church. The Sew Angels meet Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. on the second floor of the auditorium. After devotions and prayer we put our skills to use to help those in need. If you can come every week or only once in a while, we would love to get you involved. The Sew Angels are looking for anyone willing to learn the skill of sewing, although we are always delighted when experienced seamstresses join our group. To find out more about our group call LouAnn Harrington at 608.295.4187.
Technical Arts Team
Everything that you see on the weekend takes a team of dozens of people to pull off every weekend. Sound technicians get the audio levels right. Camera operators and video directors create what you see on the big screen. Lighting technicians control the mood of the room.
